Michael Campbell appointed acting Fair Work Ombudsman

Following the resignation of the Fair Work Ombudsman Nicholas Wilson, Michael Campbell will take up an appointment as acting Fair Work Ombudsman from 29 April while a merit based selection process is undertaken to select a substantive replacement.

Following the resignation of the Fair Work Ombudsman Nicholas Wilson, Michael Campbell will take up an appointment as acting Fair Work Ombudsman from 29 April while a merit based selection process is undertaken to select a substantive replacement.

Campbell is currently the Fair Work Ombudsman’s group manager, operations, responsible for the FWO’s national inspectorate and advisory services.

Prior to this role, Campbell was chief of field operations with Fair Work Building and Construction and a deputy commissioner with the Australian Building and Construction Commission.

Campbell replaces Nicholas Wilson, the Fair Work Ombudsman since 2009, who has been appointed to the Fair Work Commission as a Commissioner.

Campbell said he was committed to continuing the Fair Work Ombudsman’s important role of assisting to build more co-operative, harmonious and productive Australian workplaces.
