Equipe Solutions says it has taken swift action to stop the sale of counterfeit hand soap dispensers from China which infringe Australian patents held by United Kingdom based Brightwell Dispensers Ltd.
The fake goods were identical copies of the Brightwell Dispensers MSD soap dispenser and infringed two patents covering a valve inside the dispensing pump and the way the dispenser cover moves. Equipe Solutions is the official importer and distributor of the whole range of Brightwell Dispensers products for Australia and New Zealand.
The counterfeit dispensers were offered for sale by a NSW company and were immediately withdrawn from sale after this company was issued with a cease and desist letter – a precursor to patent infringement action. The counterfeit products are manufactured in China and have turned up in Europe, the United States, South Africa, and now Australia.
Wherever they appear Brightwell Dispensers’ patent attorneys take quick action to prevent their sale. In most cases the local sellers are unaware that the goods are fake, and that by selling them they can be sued for patent infringement.
According to Equipe Solutions the MSD soap dispenser is a ‘very distinctive and successful product, and all those involved in the industry in Australia need to be vigilant against these copies, and are urged to report them to Equipe Solutions. The MSD is a liquid, spray, foam soap or gel dispenser which uses interchangeable pumps to allow perfect dispensing of a variety of products.’
