BSCAA's significant contribution to Queensland's sustainable procurement

The Building Service Contractors Association of Australia (BSCAA) reports that it made a significant contribution to the Queensland Government’s guidelines for sustainable procurement practices. The Guide, issued by Queensland Government chief procurement office, is consistent with the Australasian Procurement and Construction Council (APCC) Sustainable Procurement Framework.

BSCAA’s Peter Nipper and the BSCAA Queensland's ecoClean Committee provided comprehensive input with a submission to the Queensland Government on procurement guidelines for the cleaning industry.

“We are pleased with the Sustainable Procurement Product Guide in that it details best industry practices”, Nipper stated.

The Guide for sustainable procurement means that when buying goods and services, organisations will consider strategies to avoid unnecessary consumption; minimise environmental impacts; comply with legislative obligations to employees; and deliver value for money over the whole-of-life of the goods and services.

The ecoClean program is an industry focused environmental certification initiative developed by the BSCAA with the assistance and support of the Queensland Government, through the Environmental Protection Agency's Sustainable Industries division.�
