APP to build Sydney tissue plant

According to a Sydney Morning Herald report (BusinessDay 25 March), Asia Pulp & Paper is investing $22 million to become the fourth ‘local’ manufacturer of tissue products. APP’s Solaris Paper offshoot said it will build a plant in western Sydney that will use imported jumbo reels of paper for conversion into toilet paper, facial tissues and other products. It is anticipated that the Solaris plant will be operating by late 2010.
