ACI working on fresh initiatives
- Dateline: 23.06.2010
The Australian Cleaning Institute (ACI) has been active in setting its aims and objectives as well as looking at ways in which to finance its ongoing activities. In a press statement released early this week, the Institute’s spokesperson John Laws emphasised the need for one body to speak on behalf of the cleaning industry.
He observed that the Soap and Detergent Association of North America had recently changed its name to the American Cleaning Institute. “The Americans have recognised there is a need for one body to speak on behalf of the whole industry and to allow all organisations related to the cleaning industry to come together under one banner.
“We did exactly the same some two years ago but have encountered some resistance from various bodies who see they can go along without the support of the industry as a whole,” Laws stated.
The Australian ACI provides a ‘Red Flag Register’ for the industry where, for a $200 annual membership fee, organisations can carry out a credit worthy check on potential clients and report those clients who have been found to be delinquent.
It is expected that in time the Institute will begin awarding senior honours to members who have undertaken significant research or made significant contributions to the work of the Institute and the industry.
The Institute has now set its membership fees with ‘voting’ categories for industry associations, national corporate companies, and state-based companies. ‘Non voting’ member categories are Certified IV individuals and students and non qualified people.
